Cornerstones

It’s been humbling to read and hear about all the selfless acts of serving the community at large. Gurinder Singh Basra, the owner of eight Verdugo Market c-stores, has provided more than $20,000 worth of personal protective equipment (PPE) to law enforcement, first responders, healthcare workers and others for COVID-19 relief. The nonprofit group Basra started in 2012, the Sikh Riders of America, has supplied thousands of face masks and other PPE daily for anyone in need. “I told my employees, ‘If somebody looks over 50 [years old], just give them [a mask],’” he says.
